An explanation for why we dream is not agreed upon, but it is not necessary and might even miss the point of paying attention to the unfiltered dialogue of our own minds. Non-linear thinking is a key to innovation and self actualization and should serve as counsel to our calculated thinking and its ability to put things into action and make them tangible.

Aside from working with my own dreams, I have had the tremendous pleasure to be part of Jungian dreamwork studies and groups at UWM-Milwaukee and, more recently, work one on one as a facilitator to help individuals access meaning from their dreams.

My approach to dreamwork probes the dreamer for the details and associations (and the details of the associations) of objects, characters, settings, emotions, etc. that are part of the dream. While a collective meaning of symbols often applies, it is usually valuable to search the contents of a dream for personal meaning.

Below are a few examples of questions that might prove valuable to help you interpret on your own. I also recommend anything by Carl Jung as well as 𝘑𝘶𝘯𝘨𝘪𝘢𝘯-𝘚𝘦𝘯𝘰𝘪 𝘋𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘮𝘸𝘰𝘳𝘬 𝘮𝘢𝘯𝘶𝘢𝘭 by Strephon Kaplan Williams. To respond to the common question "What if I can't remember my dreams?", I offer a few suggestions. Make dreams a priority, read literature or watch videos on dreams or whatever way you wish to engage the subject, dreams will make themselves more visible when you are looking for them. Put your intention out as you go to bed as well. Be ready to document them when you wake; write, voice record, illustrate. If your sleeping habits are such that it doesn't accommodate dream recall, i'm sorry but I haven't got an answer for that other than I hope that changes for you.
Feel free to contact me with any questions about exploring further.
Sweet dreams,
Colton

A few suggested questions to ask yourself as they pertain to your dreams:

What, in the dream, would I wish to avoid?

What, in the dream, would I wish to have in my life?

How am I behaving in the dream?

How am I behaving differently in my waking life?

Who or what is being injured?

Who or what is being healed?

What is the healing force in the dream?

How would I wish for the dream to end?

How does this relate, if at all, to events in my life at present? In the past? In the future?

What are your associations to the objects, individuals, settings, etc. in your dream?
